About Me

Kathleen Musca, M.Ed., MSW, LCSW

Hi! I'm Kathleen Musca, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in the heart of Maplewood, MO. I work with clients using a variety of treatment modalities including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness based therapies, trauma focused therapy, interpersonal therapy, and narrative therapy.  In my practice, I incorporate these and other therapeutic techniques, to meet the unique needs of each individual.

My clients...

include high school aged teenagers, and adults.  I welcome clients who are struggling with symptoms of anxiety and depression, feelings of low self-esteem and self-worth, difficult relationships, major life decisions or changes, stress, grief, trauma, and more.

My approach…

is relational and integrative, drawing from a range of modalities to best fit the unique needs of each client. I believe that safe, authentic relationships are transformative in the therapy space, and will take great care to understand you, to listen deeply with curiosity and without judgment. My style is warm, open, direct, and often infused with humor, because sometimes laughter is part of the healing process.

In a session with me...

you can expect a safe and calming environment, where you can sort through your thoughts and feelings, your struggles and stresses,  with professional, therapeutic input.  I will provide you with nonjudgmental, compassionate support.  Together, we will determine a focus for therapy, based on your wants and needs, and identify the best strategies to achieve these goals.  I believe that wellness is a journey of ups and downs that requires commitment and consistency. No matter what you are carrying with you on that journey, I strive to create a space where you can lay down your burden for a while, and feel seen, supported, and empowered to make meaningful change in your life.

My background...

began as a high school teacher in the city of St. Louis.  This lead me to recognize my love of supporting others, and my strengths of relationship building, compassion, and as my students and their parents always said, just being easy to talk to.  I left the classroom to pursue my Masters in Social Work with a mental health focus at Washington University in St. Louis.  Since then, I received my clinical license in Missouri and Illinois, and have been providing therapy in St. Louis City and County for the past 12 years. I opened my practice, New Leaf STL, in January of 2018.
